The Work
What we build.

— 01 · New
New Deck Construction
Custom-designed and engineered residential decks from 200 sqft platforms to 1,800+ sqft multi-level outdoor living spaces. Engineered structural plans stamped and submitted for permit. Built to International Residential Code (IRC) and beyond — proper ledger flashing, structural fasteners, and joist spacing.

— 02 · Deck
Deck Replacement & Resurfacing
Rebuild on existing footprints, full removal-and-rebuild, or surface-only replacement when the structure is sound. We assess the existing structure (footings, beams, joists) before quoting — sometimes you save money rebuilding the surface; sometimes the smart move is starting fresh.

— 03 · Pergolas
Pergolas & Covered Outdoor Living
Cedar and composite pergolas, retractable canvas-shade systems, full roof structures with composite ceilings and integrated lighting. Three-season rooms with screening and electric heaters. The built-in covered space makes a deck usable from April through October in Minnesota.

— 04 · Composite
Composite Decking Conversions
Resurface a structurally-sound existing wood deck with Trex, TimberTech, or Deckorators composite boards. Inspect framing, replace any damaged joists, install new composite boards with hidden fasteners, and add new railing system. Major upgrade at half the cost of a full rebuild.
Every deck we build comes with engineered structural plans — beam sizing, joist spacing, footing depth and diameter, ledger attachment detail. Plans submitted for permit, stamped on file. Future homebuyers, refinance appraisers, and your insurance carrier all want this documentation.

What sets us apart
Why Twin Cities homeowners trust us with their backyard.
01
Engineered Plans on File
Every deck we build comes with engineered structural plans — beam sizing, joist spacing, footing depth and diameter, ledger attachment detail. Plans submitted for permit, stamped on file. Future homebuyers, refinance appraisers, and your insurance carrier all want this documentation.
02
Built for Minnesota Winters
Frost-depth footings to 60+ inches (not 42 inches), proper ledger flashing with stainless-steel through-bolts, structural fasteners rated for freeze-thaw cycles, and joist spacing tightened on north-facing decks where ice and snow load are heaviest. The boring stuff is what survives 20 years here.
03
10-Year Workmanship Warranty
Every deck carries a written 10-year workmanship warranty in addition to the manufacturer’s board warranty (Trex 25yr, TimberTech 30yr, premium cedar carries no manufacturer warranty). Transferable on home sale. We’re still here. Your last builder might not be.
Frequently asked.
How much does a deck cost?+
Pressure-treated wood deck: $32–$48 per square foot installed. Cedar deck: $42–$62. Composite deck (Trex, TimberTech): $52–$78. Premium hardwoods (ipe, mahogany): $80–$120. A typical 400 sqft deck with railing lands at $14,000–$32,000 depending on material and complexity.
How long does construction take?+
Permit and engineered plans: 3–5 weeks. Active construction: 2–4 weeks for typical projects. Multi-level decks with pergolas or 3-season rooms run 5–8 weeks of construction. We provide a written critical-path schedule before contract signing — no “sometime in spring” promises.
Composite vs cedar — which is better?+
It depends on what you value. Cedar: cheaper, prettier, requires re-staining every 2–3 years, lasts 15–20 years if maintained. Composite: 2x cost up front, no maintenance, lasts 25+ years, slightly hotter underfoot in summer. We have both 12-year-old cedar and composite decks you can walk on at a project tour.
Can you build on my second-story walkout?+
Yes — and properly flashed second-story attachments are where most deck failures happen. We pull the existing siding back, install through-flashing and ice-and-water-shield at the ledger, attach with structural fasteners through the rim joist into the band board, and re-side. The boring details are everything.
Do you handle permits and inspections?+
Yes. Permits are pulled in Hennepin, Ramsey, and Anoka counties as part of every contract. Inspector visits at footings (before pour), framing (before decking), and final. Permit fees passed through at city cost. We handle all scheduling and on-site presence for inspections.
